Please call our office as soon as possible if you break or loosen any of your appliances, wires, bands, or brackets. Do not come directly to the office without an appointment. By calling ahead we can set aside time to see you. Even if you have a regular appointment scheduled, we would like you to notify us of any repairs that will be needed at that time. Loose bands or brackets should be replaced as soon as possible, as teeth can shift when this occurs.

Wires that are poking can be easily trimmed or repositioned to make you comfortable. If you have a poking wire when the office is not open, you can try covering the end of the wire with the wax that we provide for you. Then call in the morning to schedule an appointment in our office. We also have an after hours paging system that can be used if you need assistance when the office is closed.

Lost separators are not necessarily an emergency, but you should call our office to see if they need to be replaced.

During the first week after your braces are placed, and again after each adjustment, it is not unusual to feel some soreness or discomfort. You may take an over-the-counter pain reliever to help during these times. A warm wash cloth or heating pad, in some cases, can also reduce the soreness in your mouth.
